On 8/29/19, the 2019-2020 DSWAP (Diversity Social Work Advancement Program) interns joined DSWAP supervisor, Shawn Hayward, for their initial orientation to the program.

The goals of the DSWAP program are to increase the number of mental health professionals who identify as people of color, immigrants, refugees, and/or LGBTQ and to increase the availability, accessibility and effectiveness of trauma-informed treatment for culturally diverse clients.
The interns will be providing therapy to individuals, groups, couples, and families. Some will also be involved in social/emotional groups at our therapeutic preschools. As part of their experience at The Family Partnership, they will learn multiple modalities to provide services to those experiencing depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues and will strive to incorporate strategies to assure that their work is trauma-informed.
