The Family Partnership Announces Two Managers Join Advancement Staff

Minneapolis, MN (November 5, 2018) – TWO MANAGERS JOIN THE FAMILY PARTNERSHIP ADVANCEMENT STAFF

Minneapolis – The Family Partnership announces new development and communication managers completing the external advancement team staff positions.

Brian Kimmes joined the team as Development Manager.  In this role he will be responsible for managing The Family Partnership’s annual fund raising, including the Better Together Luncheon on May 7, 2019 and additional events.

Previously Kimme’s career spans five years at the Minnesota Timberwolves NBA and Lynx WNBA organizations where he was responsible for project and event management. He also spent six years working on fundraising, outreach and communications in the political arena in Iowa, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana and Virginia.  A native of Lino Lakes, Minn., Kimmes received a bachelor’s degree in political science from South Dakota State University.

Karen Smith assume responsibilities as Communications Manager, where she will manage all external and internal communications for the organization.  Smith previously served for more than 19 years at Verizon, in marketing communications, public relations and community relations. Most recently, she served as national corporate communications manager for the largest U.S. wireless provider.  Smith began her career as a trailblazer in the publicity and promotion of women’s athletics and served as assistant athletics director at the University of Minnesota.

Smith holds a master’s degree in physical education with a sports psychology emphasis from Temple University and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Iowa. A native Iowan, she resides in the Twin Cities area.
