Assessment, referral and educational group for youth ages 11-17 who have committed a first offense such as shoplifting, theft or vandalism and provides help for their parents too. Both the child and parents attend the initial intake along with a 3-hour diversion group. The role of the parent is very important. Activities surround rebuilding trust with parents, understanding the thought process of the youth when they committed the offense and brainstorming ways to move past the incident. Youth are also required to perform 6 hours of community service.
